Carbon & Water Management Action Plan

Carbon & Water Management Action Plan

This consultation has concluded.

The Draft Carbon & Water MAP includes a range of aspirational goals targeting carbon and water reductions in areas in which Council believes it has the greatest capacity, as a local government body, to drive emissions reductions and resource efficiency across the municipality. This process has involved collaborating with key partners and stakeholders to identify rational goals as well as opportunities where we can work together towards a collective vision for our city.

The aspirational goals have been established based on their capacity to generate the greatest level of carbon emissions and water use reductions and Council's ability to monitor and report on them. An action plan has been developed within the Draft Carbon & Water MAP to support the achievement of the aspirational goals, including actions focused on raising community awareness and driving behaviour change. There are a number of important actions that can assist in reducing emissions – such as reducing consumption and purchasing wisely in the residential sector – that are also contained within the action plan but that are not reflected in the aspirational goals due to the complexity of monitoring and reporting on them.

Council is interested in your opinions as residents, business owners, students and members of the workforce on the aspirational goals.
