This consultation has concluded.
Council endorsed a process to prepare the Hunter St Revitalisation Masterplan (HSRM) at its meeting of December 15 2009. The process outlined included a key component called “Craft the Vision”. The purpose of this component is to ascertain community values, priorities and ideas for revitalising Hunter Street.
As part of the “Craft the Vision” component, a number of community consultation and engagement activities have already been undertaken including:
-
an LGA wide Newcastle Voice Survey with 916 respondents
-
intercept surveys of 480 pedestrians using Hunter Street between Pacific Street and Stewart Avenue
-
120 face-to-face interviews of operators of small businesses along Hunter Street between Pacific Street and Stewart Avenue
-
two workshop sessions with key stakeholders such as Hunter Development Corporation and Newcastle City Centre Committee
- reference to the draft LGA wide vision being developed through the NCC 2030 Vision process.
Council has recently conducted surveys of the community to identify priorities, issues and ideas for revitalising Hunter St. Two issues raised were the provision of public toilets and the potential for Hunter St to incorporate safe cycling access.
